When we refund and when we do not

Last updated 12 August 2026

The short version

If a check returns nothing, you get your money back automatically. If a check returns an answer you did not like, you do not, because the answer is the product.

Checks that come back empty

Suppliers occasionally return no data for a valid IMEI or serial. When that happens the charge is reversed to your balance automatically, without you asking. You will see the refund in your history against the original order.

Checks that return a result

A completed check is not refundable. The report is delivered the moment it arrives and cannot be returned. A result showing a device is blacklisted, locked or out of warranty is a successful check, not a failed one; knowing that before you buy the handset is the whole point.

Unlocks that cannot be completed

If an unlock is rejected by the carrier, or the device turns out to be ineligible, the charge is refunded in full. Common reasons for rejection include an unpaid balance on the account the device is tied to, an active contract, or the device being reported lost or stolen. Rejections are usually reported within the delivery window shown at the time of the order.

Unlocks that are already in progress

Once an unlock has been submitted to a carrier it cannot be cancelled, because the request has left our hands. If it later fails, the refund rule above applies.

Wrong number submitted

Check the IMEI before you press the button. A check run against a valid but incorrect number returns a valid result for whatever device that number belongs to, and is not refundable. If you submit a number that fails our format check the order will not go through in the first place.

Credit on your balance

Credit added to a business account is intended for use on this site. If you want to close your account with an unspent balance, write to us and we will look at returning the unused portion to the original payment method where the processor still allows it. Credit does not expire while an account is active.

How long refunds take

Refunds to your site balance are immediate. Refunds to a card or PayPal account depend on the processor and usually land within five to ten business days.

Something not covered here

If you think a charge is wrong, tell us with the order in question and we will look at it. We would rather sort it out directly than have you file a chargeback.
